Jaspers' Birth Story

We got to the hospital at 11 am on Saturday September 3. I got checked in and fill out paper work. They took us to the room that I would be delivering in. The nurse got me all hooked up to the monitors and iv's. I was dilated at a 2 and 70% effaced when they checked me. My doctor came in at 11:45 am and he decided to break my water. Jon and I started to watch some DVDs that we brought from home since we knew it would be awhile. After my doctor broke my water the contractions started to get more intense on me.At  3:30 pm I got my epidural. Which wasn't pleasant at all!! The anesthesiologist had to do my epidural twice. The first time that he did it he ended up getting spinal fluid and made my whole right side jolt. The second time that he did it he made my left side jolt alittle bit but then it went away and it was all ok. My epidural was really weird this time too. 1-Jon wasn't able to give me a blessing before I got my epidural since we both forgot to bring the oil with us 2-It was only working on one side really well for a long time 3- I was having sharp pain on my right side (from my contractions) 4- It started to wear off towards the end, so the anesthesiologist had to come back in to up my dose, which helped for a little while. I don't remember what time it was but they came and checked me again and I was at 9 cm so they called my doctor and my doctor decided to have me wait for an hour so that the contractions could push the baby down more into the birth canal so that I wouldn't have to push for 30 minutes. My doctor got there around 7:45 pm and noticed that the baby was facing face up. He had to take forceps to turn him around so that I wouldn't tear. While he was doing that it was painful since my epidural was wearing off and I could feel pressure in my butt (which never happened with my other two boys) and I could also feel the contractions. After my doctor turned the baby the right way I pushed 1 and a half times and out came our baby boy. Jasper Cole Barney was born at 8:06pm weighing at 8 lbs 1 oz and 20 inches long. Right after he came out I seriously felt better. I didn't tear which was nice also. Out of all my kids he was the first one that I got to hold first. Jon didn't hold him until almost an hour after I delivered him. He is such a good baby too! I love him so much!! We all know that I really want a girl but when I finally heard Jasper and saw him I told Jon that I wouldn't trade him for all the girls in the world. I am so glad that we had another boy!
